After all the emotional exuberance of seeing you take your very first breaths, and not through the ultrasound as had become custom for months, we began counting how many minutes, hours, days, weeks, and months old you were. On 04/04/12, we welcomed you to the world, but little did we know that it was us who were getting a rousing welcome into your wonderful world!
The past year has been an amazing roller coaster of sleep-deprived days, but it’s been worth every moment we’ve shared with you!!! We’ve seen you achieve many things over the months, from sitting up on your own, to crawling (albeit in a funny soldier style early on), to standing on your own, to all out walking and or running at the same time when you got bored of simply standing still. You’ve engineered some of the funniest and smart ways we’ve seen, finding loopholes in just about every hurdle put in place to keep you from getting to electronic wires or entry into the kitchen. As you fittingly exhibited once again last night, in your quest to gain entry into the kitchen, breaking the pen and walking away in an all-too-calm demeanor once the door was broken, Hollywood explosion in tow…
So as we mark this massive milestone in your life, and ours, here’s to wishing you a fantastic Happy First Birthday, Uthando Lwethu!!!
